The Indian captain Rohit Sharma has proven that he is a selfless cricketer. The opener has himself decided to play down the order in the benefit of Team India. Ahead of the India vs Australia 2nd Test match, Rohit said in a press conference that he wants KL Rahul to open, and therefore he will be batting in the middle order. The batter will not be new to the position, as he started his Test career as a middle-order batter.

What will be the Indian captain’s approach in the Pink Ball Test, starting on December 6? It will be interesting to see. The batter will be batting lower in the order to not hamper the team balance in the next match. He will be reliving his past times when he used to play in the middle orders. 

“I don’t see why we need to change that. What I saw from the outside looked brilliant, and there was no need to change anything. It was actually pretty simple for me. Personally, not easy. But for the team, it made a lot of sense,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit Sharma last played at the middle for in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19 at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. It was the third Test of the series where he scored an unbeaten 63 runs off 114. India had won that match by 137 runs.
