¡32 a tope!

Whenever lesser-known players get picked up by the IPL franchises, there is a certain amount of buzz created around them. IPL fans tune into their performances at the local level and get to know how well prepared are they to fight in the most competitive T20 league. Talking about T20 leagues, we are having India’s premier domestic T20 tourney, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), where new IPL recruits, Rasikh Salam and Yudhvir Singh shone brilliantly. In fact, Jammu and Kashmir created massive history as they bundle out Arunachal Pradesh for a mere 32.

Lowest T20 total in India ft. SMAT?

In what was a historic display of fast bowling, Jammu and Kashmir rattled Arunachal Pradesh for just 32 runs in 9.1 overs. Guess who was their highest run-getter in this forgetful innings? Well, ‘Extras’ is the answer. J&K bowlers leaked 8 extra runs, with no AP batter surpassing even the five-run mark.

Royal Challenger Bengaluru’s (RCB) Rs 6 crore signing, Rasikh Dar only picked up one wicket but was frugal, leaking 6 runs in his two overs. Auqib Nabi picked three wickets, while former Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Abid Mushtaq took 4 wickets for just 2 runs. Talking about RR, Yudhvir Singh Charak also claimed 2/14. He even opened the batting, making 21* in 11 balls.

Interestingly, Arunachal Pradesh’s 32-all out is the second lowest in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) history. The lowest still stands with Tripura, who made 30 runs against Jharkhand in 2009. Notably, in Tripura’s 30 all-out, only two runs came in extras, meaning effectively 28 runs were made by the batters. As for AP, only 24 runs came off the bat.
