Delhi Capitals waited till the last moment to use the Right to Match (RTM) route to buy back opener Jake Fraser-McGurk in IPL 2025 auction. The Australian joined DC in IPL 2024 and was one of the standout openers across the teams in the edition. While he was released by the team along with David Warner ahead of the mega auction, DC decided to buy back the explosive opener.
DC use RTM card to trump PBKS and buy back Jake Fraser-McGurk
Registered at a base price of Rs 2 cr, Jake Fraser-McGurk saw DC and PBKS engage in a bidding war. Shortly after the bid crossed Rs 5.5 cr, DC decided to use the Right to Match (RTM) card just when PBKS nearly got the opener. The bid was then increased to Rs 9 crore, following which DC sealed the deal. Once again, DC’s Kiran Kumar Grandhi played his cards very carefully, deceiving yet another team on the auction table.

Jake Fraser-McGurk went on to play 9 matches from which he amassed 330 runs for DC in IPL 2024. With a good average of around 37, he clobbered 4 fifties. But what is even more interesting is his strike rate.
