As per Dainik Bhaskar, Shami is set to depart for Australia along with the Indian skipper. While Rohit did not travel with the rest of the team to Perth due to personal reasons, Shami failed to recover in time when the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was announced.

As per the report, both Rohit Sharma and Shami are expected to leave together for the series against Australia. The Hitman was blessed with a baby boy on Friday, increasing hopes of his participation in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. Meanwhile, Shami made his return to competitive cricket for the first time in a year and impressed with a 4-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy. As per the report, Rohit can join the side before the Perth Test.
