Meanwhile, he was recently retained by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the next three editions of the Indian Premier League. He will get Rs 21 crore, making him the second-joint costliest player on the retention list. Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants will get the same amount from his franchise. Virat won the Orange Cap last season, scoring more than 700 runs in 15 matches. However, he hasn’t been able to show form in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. In the first four innings, he has amassed just 22 runs, with the hosts 0-2 behind. His role will be crucial for the team in the five red-ball games against Australia.
