IPL retention live: The date for the IPL retention has arrived, as all teams need to submit their respective lists of retained players before 4:30 PM on October 31 (Thursday). Speaking more about IPL retentions, the IPL Governing Council has also updated the retention rules this year. Teams can now keep up to six players, with a limit of five capped and two uncapped players. A special rule allows capped players to be retained as uncapped if they haven’t played international cricket in the last five years. IPL retention live on which channel?

The IPL 2025 retention will be televised live in India on the Star Sports 1 and Sports18 Network. The official broadcast commences at 4:00 pm IST on 31 October. Live streaming of the IPL 2025 retention will be available on the JioCinema app and website, starting from 4:30 pm IST on 31 October.

IPL retention rules

The IPL franchises can retain up to six players each for the 2025 season, the right-to-match (RTM) option is back for the mega auction, and the Impact Player rule will remain in place till the 2027 season. That aside, the auction purse has been increased by INR 20 crore and is now Rs 120 crore.

Each franchise can retain a maximum of six players via a combination of retention and the RTM option. “It is at the discretion of the IPL franchise to choose their combination for retentions and RTMs,” the IPL release said. “The six retentions/RTMs can have a maximum of five capped players and a maximum of two uncapped players.”

IPL salary slabs

The salary slab for an uncapped retained player is Rs 4 crore. The salaries of retained players will be deducted from the total purse of Rs 120 crore. Therefore, if a franchise retains more players, its auction purse will be reduced accordingly.
