Pakistán podría haber dado el doble de disparos con una Nueva Zelanda o la lluvia o ambos del escenario de la Copa de Campeones
Pakistan cricket team’s dreams of lifting the ICC Champions Trophy once again is all but over. As captain Mohammad Rizwan said, their hopes of making it to the knockout stages now hinges on other teams. Particularly in Bangladesh beating New Zealand in their fixture on Monday and India losing their contest to the Kiwis on March 2. At the moment, Pakistan’s chances of making it to the next round looks pretty bleak and there’s more than just one reason for it. After all, the “Kudrat ke Nizam” dream could all but be over.

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy dreams all but over?
The defending champions are now at a position where their qualification depends on the performance of other teams. They will now pin their hopes on Bangladesh to beat New Zealand and on the result of IND vs NZ to find a way to the next stage. However, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. If it wasn’t already enough that Bangladesh will face a tough challenge in taking down the Kiwis, there is also a rain threat to both NZ vs BAN and PAK vs BAN clash in Rawalpindi.
Latest news
To start with, New Zealand contest against Bangladesh is heavily in favour of the former. Both teams will be playing their second game of CT 2025 on Monday. While the Tigers lost to India in their opening game, the Kiwis beat the hosts by 60 runs in their tournament opener. Given the composition of both sides, it would take a miracle for Bangladesh to beat New Zealand.
If that threat wasn’t already enough, then Pakistan also is likely to face the wrath of the rain gods in their final CT 2025 group stage fixture against Bangladesh. As per weather.com, there is 88% chance of rain through the day on Thursday when Pakistan take on BAN. It becomes only worse through the day, with the precipitation possibility increasing to 94% by the evening, as per the forecast.
If New Zealand beat Bangladesh on Monday then it is all but over for Pakistan on Monday. If rain plays spoilsport in their contest against Bangladesh if the latter beat NZ miraculously, then it would still spell doom for the hosts. Pakistan, at this point of time, are pinning their hopes on Bangladesh and nature to proceed to the next stage of the Champions Trophy. Sadly, none of them are tipped in favour of the hosts.
