India recibirá a Pakistán en la Copa ICC en Dubai el domingo
Doubts continue to grow regarding the future of Rohit Sharma as the captain of the India Cricket Team. Ahead of the India vs Pakistan clash in the ICC Champions Trophy, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar claimed that Rohit is unlikely to be a part of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Manjrekar also claimed that the Champions Trophy could just well be the final tournament of his career.
In less than 2 months, Rohit Sharma will turn 38 years old. And with the ODI World Cup, a further 2 years away, he will be 40 years by then. Manjrekar further claimed that Rohit should thus play this tournament with a free mind as it would likely be his swansong.

Swangsong for Rohit Sharma?
“I have a feeling (that) if he has decided, I mean, can Rohit Sharma be there for the 2027 Cricket World Cup? I don’t think so, very unlikely. So, then, this could be, what you are suggesting, could be the final tournament,” he said. “I’m expecting Rohit Sharma to go out there and he should be actually liberated not so much by this being his sort of swansong or whatever, just by the fact that so much of quality batting to come (from him),” Sanjay Manjrekar told ESPNCricinfo.
Adding more concerns would be the dwindling form of Rohit Sharma. His poor performances in the Border Gavaskar Trophy caught up. But he roared back to form in the IND vs ENG ODI series with a brilliant century. In the past game, he played a decent knock of 41 runs. Manjrekar claimed Rohit has been selfless as a captain and his performances in the 2023 World Cup helped his popularity soar.
“2023 World Cup (in India) Rohit Sharma’s popularity soared. What they loved about Rohit Sharma is that they saw the captain was selfless, went out there… (he) could have got a hundred but (instead) gave a great flying start to the team and made things easier for the players coming after him,” Manjrekar concluded.
