Former India cricket team batting coach Sanjay Bangar has suggested Rohit Sharma to revisit his previous successes to rediscover his form. The Hitman has been under fire for being unable to break free from shackles of poor form across formats. Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy, Bangar has advised Rohit to slow down and not overthink on current form.

Practicing too much not good: Bangar to Rohit

Speaking on Star Sports’ Match Point, Bangar pointed out that practicing too much won’t be beneficial for Rohit. Instead, he suggested Sharma spend some time alone and figure out what his habits and routines were during the phase where he enjoyed success. He advised the Indian skipper to not be too desperate in his thinking.

“A phase has come in his career where he hasn’t scored runs. Sometimes practicing too much isn’t beneficial. He can probably spend a little time alone and watch the phase where he enjoyed a lot of success. Watch some videos and figure out what his habits and routines were,” Bangar said.

“Sometimes all those things prove hugely beneficial if you have to regain your rhythm. You have to remind yourself what works for you. He shouldn’t be too desperate in his thinking,” Bangar added.

There is no doubt that Rohit is indeed one of the greatest ODI batters for India. His track record in the format is very impressive and if we speak specifically about the last 5 years, he has excelled in whatever limited opportunities he has gotten in terms of number of ODIs played. But the issue that will bother India the most is his form in general in the recent past and what toll it could take on the team in Champions Trophy.
