Shami Angi vs English tiene un aspecto delicado y la ICC se ve lista para la Copa de Campeones
India cricket team can breathe a sigh of relief over Mohammed Shami as he made a successful comeback to ODIs ahead of ICC Champions Trophy. The express pacer returned to action in the 50-over format for the first time since playing in the ODI World Cup final in 2023. While there was uncertainty over Shami’s fitness before the match in Nagpur, it now has been brushed aside following the game. And this surely is good news for India.
Shami ready to go for Champions Trophy
Shami bowled 8 overs and bagged one wicket in IND vs ENG 1st ODI. The veteran pacer, one of India’s best white-ball bowlers, bowled at full tilt at the VCA stadium. He started off with the new ball for India and fared pretty well. There was one tiny moment of scare when he walked off the field after bowling his first spell but that was to only sip on some drinks and he made his way back to the field in the very next over.
Latest news
His only victim on Thursday was Brydon Carse and he was castled by Shami. He conceded 38 runs in his spell, maintaing an economy of 4.80. Indeed, he ticked all the boxes in terms of being prepared for Champions Trophy. And to the delight of the team and the fans, he spearheaded the pace department.
Why a 100% fit Shami is needed for India ahead
Shami had taken part only in two T20Is earlier against England as the word was that he was being preserved for ODIs. With Jasprit Bumrah most likely to not play in Champions Trophy, India will depend heavily on the experienced Shami to lead the pace attack in Dubai. Besides Shami, India only have southpaw Arshdeep Singh as a credible full-time pacer along with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. While Rana or Siraj could be included as back-ups, it is important for India to have Shami 100% fit and ready for the tournament.
