Australia cricket team batter Travis Head has won his first-ever Allan Border medal. The explosive middle-order batter beat Australian skipper Pat Cummins and teammate Josh Hazlewood to secure the award. Head has been one of the most consistent performers for Australia, having succeeded not only in international cricket but also in leagues like the IPL.

Head beat Cummins by 61 votes and Hazlewood by 50 to win the Allan Border medal. In total, he garnered 208 votes to win the award. Across all three formats, Head managed to score 1427 runs, including four centuries, in the last calendar year. He played a crucial role, especially against India, tormenting them from the WTC final in 2023 to the ODI World Cup final followed by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Head also won the ODI Player of the Year award. He is the second first-time Allan Border medal awardee after Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. He beat the likes of his SRH teammate Pat Cummins and RCB rival Josh Hazlewood to secure the top honour. Head is currently acting as deputy to Steve Smith in Australia’s tour to Sri Lanka where they are already 1-0 up in the series. He will next be a part of the ICC Champions Trophy where Australia will look to add another trophy to their cabinet.
