Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy currently hangs on a balance. The ace pacer has traveled to Bengaluru to visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Under the BCCI Medical Team, further scans will be done on the pacer to determine if he will be fit for the ICC event.
Reports claim that Jasprit Bumrah reached Bengaluru on 2nd February to continue his recovery. The star pacer suffered back stress on the IND vs AUS 5th Test in Sydney. Following which he has been rested. Even so, Bumrah has not been selected in the IND vs ENG ODI series.
Will Jasprit Bumrah be available for ICC Champions Trophy?
The India Cricket Team will be hopeful of getting back their star bowler for the ICC event. Reports further claim that Bumrah is expected to be at the NCA for 2-3 till the scans are assessments are carried out. Following this, the BCCI Medical Team will submit a report to Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI Chief Selector.
Previously, Agarkar had clarified in the press conference, that Bumrah is rested to recover from his back stress injury. “Bumrah has been told to off-load for five weeks after and he won’t be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will know his status in early February from the medical team. We’ll probably find out a bit more around that time, what exactly, and with regards to what his medical condition is, I’m sure BCCI might just put something out, from the physio itself,” Agarkar had said.

As things stand, the BCCI Selection Committee will have a very short time in determining whether Bumrah will be fit for the mega tournament or not. The Final squad needs to be submitted by 11th February as per the ICC guidelines. As for the team, now the attention shifts to the IND vs ENG ODI series.
Reports claim that Rohit Sharma and Co are expected to leave for Dubai on 15th February.
