¿Resueltos los problemas con la pelota corta de Shreyas Iyer? El bateador revela ‘picazón’ antes del regreso del Champions Trophy

Shreyas Iyer promete dar su 110 por ciento en el Trofeo de Campeones ICC

One perennial thing that has tormented Shreyas Iyer over the years, is his ability to tackle the short balls. While he has been widely criticized over it, Iyer has now hit back at those who are trolling him. He claims that criticism is fair but it becomes irritable when people who have never faced 150 kph comment on how to counter short balls.

Shreyas Iyer had a good ODI World Cup 2023 campaign and then lost out on his spot in the team. He was snubbed off his BCCI Central contract after failing to play domestic cricket. But then he soon found his rhythm and made his ODI return after Gautam Gambhir became the head coach. And now right ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, he is hungry to prove his worth at the big stage.

Ignorance is Bliss

“It’s irritating, especially when it comes from people, who haven’t faced 150 km per hour delivery, advising you to play in a particular way,” Shreyas Iyer said at the Indian Express’ Idea Exchange.

“But I would say it is their opinion. They have all the right to talk, but they can talk between themselves not to the player directly,” he added.

Iyer believes that people can criticize but they should talk and discuss this amongst themselves. He believes that it is extremely unfair of them to directly say it to the player.

Meanwhile, Iyer will be hoping to give his best in the ICC event. He will be desperate to find his ODI World Cup form back. Iyer has promised to give his very best to the game and go full throttle.

“The 82 against Sri Lanka. Because there was a lot of talk about dropping me from the squad, and that I’m not providing much for the team. Even though I had scored a 50 against Pakistan, there was some talk which put me in a helter-skelter situation. That kind of (talk) boosted my instincts from within. I wanted to just give my 110 per cent. And in that game, I decided that I would just back my instincts and go full throttle. No looking back. I’m impressed by the way I played in that game. I became my own fan after that. It was a game-changing innings, especially in the World Cup,” he concluded.
