Involucrando la política: PCB mantiene silencio sobre Rohit Sharma no visitará Pakistán para el Champions Trophy

Mientras tanto, el BCCI no ha confirmado ni negado el envío de Rohit a Pakistán.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has voiced concerns over the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) alleged decision to not send India captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 opening ceremony, scheduled for February 19. Rohit was also expected to attend the customary captains’ photo shoot and pre-event press conference in Pakistan.

It’s important to note that India will play all their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai, including their clash against Pakistan on February 23. Meanwhile, the BCCI has neither confirmed nor denied sending Rohit to Pakistan. The PCB official also expressed disappointment over reports suggesting that the Indian team would not include Pakistan’s name on their tournament jerseys.

ICC should step in: PCB official

BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don’t want to send their captain (to Pakistan) for the opening ceremony; now there are reports that they don’t want the host nation’s (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan,” a PCB official, on condition of anonymity, told IANS on Monday.

India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was announced on January 18, 2025, with captain Rohit Sharma set to lead the squad. Mohammed Siraj was excluded from the squad, with left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh preferred instead. The squad also features Yashasvi Jaiswal, who received his maiden ODI call-up.

India will play three ODIs against England before starting their Champions Trophy campaign in Dubai on February 20, 2025. They will face Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the group stage
