El entrenador de bolos de los indios de Mumbai, Paras Mhambrey, está preocupado por el futuro de Jasprit Bumrah en todos los formatos del juego y dice que debe ser cauteloso.
Mumbai Indians bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is slightly concerned about Jasprit Bumrah’s career as the premium pacer – both for India and for MI. Being the most over-worked Indian bowler in the last calendar year, the pacer is now on a 5-week rest after developing a swelling on his back following the gruelling IND vs AUS Test series. Ahead of IPL 2025, Mhambrey offers an insight into what he expects from the bowler, while casting aspersions on the longetivity of his career.
MI coach keeps fingers crossed over Bumrah
In an interview with miemirates.com, Mhambrey reflected on Bumrah’s meteoric rise after being picked up as a “rookie” by the IPL side. He credited John Wright for scouting the pacer and suggeting his name to the team management. He further credited Bumrah as one of the very few players who created an impact in all three formats of the game. However, Mhambrey acknowledged the risk of overusing Bumrah.
“I just hope his body supports him here. His action saps up a lot of energy. My worry will always be the longevity of this individual. We have got to take care of him. It is easy to get away from the goal. He needs to be around for Indian cricket. I’m sure he wants to play, but we have to be smart on how to use him. I just hope I get to watch it for the next five years,” Mhambrey said.

Mhambrey on Bumrah’s captaincy
“He has taken a liking to captaining the team as well, and I am very happy about it. He doesn’t just focus on his game, he is very inclusive. He understands his role is also about grooming, assisting others, which he has taken to very nicely. It’s not just winning games for the country. It’s about leaving an impact on everyone,” Mhambrey added.
While Bumrah has been named in India’s Champions Trophy squad, it remains to be seen if he can take part in the group stage matches. If he his fit, then he will be tested in IND vs ENG 3rd ODI, the penultimate stop before CT 2025. Without the services of Bumrah, MI’s pace attack will be quite weak.
