The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced their squad for the second leg of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. And the 22-man strong team includes Virat Kohli. A lot of talk has been around whether the former Indian captain would feature in domestic cricket amid his slump, and so many would be pleased that he’s made the final list for Delhi.

Focus on Virat Kohli’s injury

However, there is still no certainty that Kohli will feature in the Saurashtra vs. Delhi match. The game will commence on January 23 in Rajkot, but Kohli has to make himself available for it. It was reported yesterday that the star batter injured his neck in Australia, and he is still recovering from it.

To treat his neck sprain, Kohli has even taken some injections, but it’s unsure what’s the current status of his injury and whether he’ll be fit enough for the Ranji Trophy. It was additionally added that Kohli will definitely train with the Delhi squad, but whether he’ll play the match or not isn’t confirmed.

Kohli will have a chat with DDCA President Rohan Jaitley, and only then will it all clear up. Delhi’s squad was to be announced on January 17, and as it was revealed, Rishabh Pant will be in action but won’t be captaining Delhi. The wicketkeeper felt he should take the leadership from Ayush Badoni since he’s the full-time skipper, and so Pant will play as a keeper-batter.

Kohli might play Ranji Trophy match against Railways

Coming back to Kohli, there is a chance that he will play one Ranji Trophy game. It has been indicated that he could play against Railways, but given that the India vs. England ODI series starts on February 6, it seems a little unlikely.

“Even if Kohli doesn’t play in Rajkot, he could be available against Railways at home in the following round from January 30,” a source told the Hindu.
