Before they do so, the selectors will reach out to each player to check their availability for the games as per the process. This includes India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma as well. The Hitman is all but confirmed to participate in the domestic red-ball tournament, making his comeback after a long gap.

Mumbai selectors to check Rohit Sharma’s availability for Ranji

As per PTI, the Mumbai selectors will approach Rohit at the time of selection to seek his availability. Sharma joined the Mumbai camp for training at the Wankhede stadium on Tuesday where he was seen sweating it out in the nets. The Hitman batted alongside skipper Ajinkya Rahane and even took part in a match simulation drill. However, Rohit has still not confirmed his participation in the second leg of Ranji Trophy to the MCA yet.

“The selectors are expected to announce the squad on January 20, during which they will follow the due process of checking for the availability of every player. Rohit will also be approached around the time for selection,” a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official told PTI.

The Indian captain has also commenced training for ICC Champions Trophy. He was seen training at the MCA-BKC ground on Monday following which he was seen jogging at a park in BKC on Wednesday.

He last played Ranji Trophy in 2015. Since then, he has been prioritizing international cricket and has given the domestic tourney a skip even if given the chance to participate. Sharma has been in miserable form with the bat since the latter half of 2024. In IND vs AUS series, he only managed to score 31 runs. Mumbai will take on J&K in their first match of the second leg on January 23.
