While India cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, captain Rohit Sharma could do so before the marquee event. The Men in Blue will play all their matches of the tournament at a neutral venue (in Dubai) after refusing to travel to the neighbouring country. If the BCCI permits, then the Hitman would be one of the first Indian cricketers to travel to Pakistan in the recent years for an international event.

Rohit Sharma travel to Pakistan for pre-Champions Trophy event?

As per Cricket Pakistan, the ICC has planned a visit for an all-captain photoshoot followed by a press conference ahead of Champions Trophy. The BCCI is yet to confirm if the Indian skipper would be traveling to Pakistan for the event. It is pertinent to point out that India have not traveled to the neighbouring country since 2008 owing to geopolitical tension between the two. However, should Rohit fail to get clearance from the BCCI, he would become the only Indian skipper will become the only captain in ICC tournament history to skip a captains’ meet for any ICC event.

Following India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan, the ICC approved the hybrid model for CT 2025, with co-hosts Pakistan hosting the rest of the tournament while India’s matches would be held in Dubai. While the PCB and BCCI agreed to the model “in principle”, the PCB had some demands of its own. Pakistan will not be traveling to India for the World Cup in 2026. Additionally, both teams agreed that all IND vs PAK matches will be played at neutral venues in the future until the issues between the two countries are resolved.
