Things are not good for the Indian Cricket Team in Test format. The team lost 3-0 at home to the Kiwis and then followed it with a 3-1 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. This has resulted in India missing out on a spot in the WTC Finals for the very first time since its inception. Now, new BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has pledged that the board will try to overcome all the drawbacks that the team is currently facing.
Devajit Saikia is now the new Secretary of the BCCI. He took over the spot that was left vacant after former Secretary Jay Shah went on to take the chairperson position of the ICC. Coming to the Indian side, Saikia further the board has decided to streamline things and is planning to take one tournament at a time.
Thinking of one tournament at a time
“It is a big challenge because if you see, we are not doing good in Test cricket in the last two series against Australia as well as New Zealand. So, immediately we are having the England series so far as T20 is concerned and thereafter the big event of the Champions Trophy in Dubai. We have to think about one (tournament) at a time. We have had a lot of discussions during the last two days and we are trying to streamline; whatever our drawbacks are, we have to overcome them,” Devajit Saikia told the media.
Devajit Saikia claimed that things are not good for the India Cricket Team. He added that the team lost both the series against Australia and New Zealand. He further added that the team has turned their focus to the upcoming England series and then followed it to the ICC Champions Trophy.
“We are taking all the expert opinion also. So, we look forward to a very positive outcome from these discussions and exercise. Our immediate challenge is the England series (at home) and thereafter the Champions Trophy. I am extremely delighted and grateful to all my colleagues. I thank the ICC Chairman and former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah…I will carry forward the work done by ICC Chairman and former BCCI Secretary Jay Shah,” he added.
