¡Espera que termine pronto! El BCCI decidirá el equipo indio para el Trofeo de Campeones ICC del 18 al 19 de enero.

India está encuadrada en el Grupo A con Nueva Zelanda, Pakistán y Bangladesh.

The suspense around India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad continues, with BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirming that the team will be finalised by January 18 or 19. The delay comes despite the ICC’s January 12 deadline for submitting a provisional squad, with BCCI seeking an extension to ensure the best possible selection. The BCCI reasoned that they needed some time after a hectic Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

The tournament, returning after eight years, will be played in a hybrid model. India’s matches are scheduled in Dubai, starting with their opening clash against Bangladesh on February 20. Meanwhile, host Pakistan will face New Zealand in Karachi on February 19.

India’s squad announcement for Champions Trophy?

BCCI hasn’t announced the Indian Team’s squad for the Champions Trophy. So far, out of 8 teams, only 3 have announced the team. England was the first to announce the squad. After this, New Zealand and Bangladesh announced the team on 12 January. 2023 ODI World Cup winner Australia has not announced the team yet.

Bumrah’s selection uncertain

According to media reports, India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury has put a big question mark on his participation in the upcoming ICC tournament. The selectors are waiting to hear from the National Cricket Association about Bumrah’s fitness. They want to be 100% sure about his health before picking the final 15-member team.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami seems fit now. He will play in the T20I series against England later this month, but the team management will keep a close eye on his fitness game by game. Also, despite speculations, Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the Champions Trophy, and Virat Kohli will also be part of the squad.
