BCCI promete 6,03 millones de rupias en 2 semanas al Tribunal Superior de Bombay
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that it will clear all the dues that are pending to Mumbai, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Navi Mumbai police. The apex cricketing body of the country has informed the Bombay High Court that all the pending dues will be cleared in two weeks. These payments will be made to the police for providing protection during Mumbai Indians matches in the IPL.
The incident took place in August last year. Activist Anil Vedvyas Galgali filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by Right to Information (RTI) regarding the cost and arrears that are provided to the police. The petition was filed against the Maharastra government which decided to lower the arrears.
BCCI vows to pay pending due to Mumbai Police
Back in August, the Bombay High Court came down heavily on the government’s decision to reduce the rates for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. As per the petition, a sum of ₹14.82 crores is pending to be paid by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for IPL matches from the duration of 2013 to 2018.
The BCCI on the other hand claimed that it owes ₹1.7 crore to the Pimpri Chinchwad police, ₹3.3 crore to the Navi Mumbai police and ₹1.03 crore to the Mumbai police. BCCI further assured that the amount would be paid in the next two weeks.
“The BCCI has no intention of depriving the police of the amount owed to them and undertakes to make the payment of the disputed amount not later than 90 days of the reconciliation of the accounts with the concerned police authorities. BCCI only incurs liability for qualifiers, eliminators and final matches of the IPL, women’s premier league matches, and any other match conducted in exceptional circumstances,” BCCI said in an affidavit.
