The only good news from Tuesday’s rounds of the Women’s World Blitz Championships is that R. Vaishali put on a stunning show, finishing as the clear leader with 9.5 points after 11 rounds. She has performed really well, including some big wins against top players like Polina Shuvalova, which shows her dominance. Vaishali finished a full point ahead of China’s Lei Tingjie, securing her spot in the knockouts with a round to spare.

Only the top 8 players from all the participants qualified for the next round, which is the knockouts. The quarterfinals will be played tomorrow, and R Vaishali’s going to face Chinese Grandmaster Jiner Zhu

Koneru Humpy & Divya Deshmukh out

After winning the Rapid Championship recently, Koneru Humpy’s campaign ended in heartbreak. Despite winning her final round, she finished 9th, narrowly missing the top 8 cut for the knockouts. Because of lower rating points, the player failed to qualify despite getting an 8.

Divya Deshmukh and Vantika Agrawal also struggled to make any impact, losing out on crucial positions. Priyan Nutakki and Padmini Rout secured the 71st and 72nd spots, respectively, each earning five points in a field of 108 players. Sahithi Varshini had the lowest finish among Indians, ending in 76th place with 4.5 points.
