Cabe señalar que el ex entrenador en jefe Rohit Dravid mostró una gran humildad después de que Sharma y el equipo indio ganaron la Copa Mundial 2024.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced a cash reward of Rs 58 crore for the Champions Trophy-winning squad. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar raised a thought-provoking question, asking whether Gautam Gambhir would follow the example of his predecessor, Rahul Dravid, and decline receiving a higher bonus than the rest of the support staff.
It’s worth noting that Rahul Dravid, the former head coach, displayed remarkable humility after Rohit Sharma and the Indian team triumphed in the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final held in Barbados. Despite the Indian cricket board offering him an additional Rs 2.5 crore as part of the reward, Dravid chose to take an equal share of the prize money alongside his support staff. This decision underscored his commitment to fairness and unity within the team.
Have not heard anything: Gavaskar on Champions Trophy prize money
“After the ICC T20 World Cup win and the Board announcement of prize money, the then-coach Rahul Dravid, ever the team man, refused to accept more than his fellow members of the coaching staff and, in fact, shared it equally with his colleagues,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.
Sunil Gavaskar has questioned whether Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, will choose to follow the example set by Rahul Dravid. He also pointed out Gambhir’s silence on the matter, as the former India opener has yet to comment on the prize money announced by the BCCI.
“It’s been a fortnight since the BCCI announced the Champions Trophy rewards, but we haven’t heard anything from the current coach on whether he will also do a Dravid. Or is it that Dravid, in this instance, is not a good role model?” he added.
