Mitchell Marsh hit his fastest fifty in the Indian Premier League in his first match for Lucknow Super Giants in their opening game of IPL 2025 against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh, returning from an injury which forced him to miss Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy, smashed his fourth IPL fifty off just 21 balls.

LSG, who released several high-profile players including former captain KL Rahul, fielded a new-look opening combination against the Capitals. Marsh alongside Aiden Markram set up a stunning platform for Lucknow on a pitch tailormade for their powerful batting line-up, albeit this is DC’s second home ground of the season.
Takes on Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Marsh took on fellow Australian Mitchell Starc and hit him for a flurry of sixes before the left-arm pacer was taken off the attack, having gone for 28 runs in his first 2 overs. Mitchell Marsh of course found the time to throw a punch in the air and accompanied that with a wide grin after sending Starc on a wild leather chase.
The 33-year-old Marsh was out of action for several months because of a lower back pain and dysfunction but he was cleared to play for his new IPL team – LSG – only as a batter.
