RCB Agresivo Chase vs KKR: Aprenda del pasado para evitar el último minuto

RCB cerró solo 165 a 165 y mostró una intención agresiva. La explosión de las películas Salt y Virat Kohli ganaron 59.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the first match of the IPL 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday. KKR posted 174 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Bengaluru didn’t wait for the full 20 overs and chased the target in 16.2 overs.

All batters were hitting hard and trying to chase the target immediately. They were maintaining their strike rates and trying to secure victory quickly. But why was RCB rushing so fast to finish the match when they had all 20 overs? This is because of past experience.

Drama in IPL 2024

Net run rate is probably one of the biggest factors in group matches. Even if you get the points, sometimes teams fail to qualify because of the net run rate.

In IPL 2024, a total of 4 teams tied for the fourth spot with the 14-point mark. RCB was one of them. Until the eighth match, they had only won one match and then had a streak of winning matches to 14 matches to make it into the playoffs. In this closely contested group, second only to Chennai Super Kings, it was not enough for RCB to just win the match; they needed to win with a bigger margin to have a better run rate. They had to hope for a big win to qualify for the playoffs. They managed to win and qualified for the playoffs last year.

Learning from the past

To avoid the drama and the situation this year, RCB is trying hard to finish the games early so they can have an edge in net run rate, at least even if they want to win the last match. This ensures the pressure doesn’t come on them, and they can easily chase the target or defend the target and go into the playoffs without having to worry about the net run rate. That’s why they are trying to finish the matches early.

RCB looking good in IPL 2025

RCB is looking in good touch in IPL 2025. In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood has performed brilliantly along with Krunal Pandya, who won the Player of the Match, taking 3 wickets, including Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh. In the batting, Phil Salt was phenomenal in the opening; he scored 56 runs off 31 balls. Also, Virat Kohli didn’t disappoint; he scored 59 runs not out in 36 balls. The team is looking in great touch with all the players contributing to the team.
