¿Por qué Sunil Narina golpeó “golpeó” para lavar “negro en los juegos KKR y RCB”?

Cuando Narin tenía 18 años (16), cuando tuvo lugar el incidente, 26 carreras en las siguientes 10 bolas.

Controversy struck in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opener at the Eden Gardens. In the eighth over of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) match, Sunil Narine knocked the bails off with his bat. However, to the surprise of RCB fans, the umpires didn’t adjudge Narine out.

Many cried foul online, crying that the match was fixed. But the on-field umpires Abhijeet Bengeri and Vinod Seshan were actually correct. How and why were the umpires right? Well, let’s break it down.

Why wasn’t Sunil Narine out ‘hit wicket’?

You see, Rasik Salam Dar had bowled a bouncer that was deemed a wide by the leg umpire. Narine swung big, but upon seeing the ball bouncing over his head, he let it go. While bringing his bat down, Narine knocked the bails off. The umpires didn’t do anything, and when Tim David appealed, he wasn’t paid any attention to.

That’s because, according to the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), a batter can be adjudged out ‘hit wicket’ only when he’s trying to hit a shot, which Narine had no intention of doing.

“A batter can indeed be given out “hit wicket” on a wide delivery. The key condition is that the batter must dislodge the stumps in the act of playing or preparing to play the ball, regardless of whether it’s a legal delivery or a wide. However, if the batter dislodges the stumps after the ball has passed and they are not attempting to play it (e.g., stepping back or losing balance unrelated to playing the shot), they would not be out,” the hit wicket law states.
