During practice, the right-handed batter was spotted showing off the tattoo on his left arm. Fans were gushing over his chic new style as soon as the photos appeared. The tattoo means, “A tree of life with his planet being protected by two eagles.”

Shreyas Iyer is set to represent Punjab Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season after being acquired for a staggering INR 26.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday. With this massive price tag, he surpassed Mitchell Starc’s INR 24.75 crore record, becoming the second most expensive player in IPL history.
Shreyas Iyer’s journey in IPL
The 29-year-old was initially signed by KKR for INR 12.25 crore in 2022, where he took on the captaincy after spending seven seasons with Delhi Capitals (DC). Iyer’s leadership stint in the IPL began in 2018 when he replaced Gautam Gambhir as captain of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) mid-season. Known for his exceptional ability against spin bowling, the middle-order batter has amassed 3,127 runs in 116 IPL matches at a strike rate of 127.47, including 21 half-centuries. Across all T20 formats, Iyer has accumulated 5,759 runs in 215 matches at a strike rate of 132.57, featuring three centuries and 36 fifties.
