Virate Kapil Kapil apoya a la nueva familia de Dezi en la política de turismo de BCCI

A muchos jugadores les gusta viajar con un entorno extendido, incluyen gerentes, padres, sus esposas e hijos.

India’s World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, backed Virat Kohli. The star batter, who’s currently gearing up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, had criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their new family policy.

BCCI’s new family policy & Virat Kohli’s criticism

For the unaware, BCCI had brought a new policy into play after the India cricket team lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in January. These laws restricted family members from joining the players for more than 2 weeks on tours which last 45 days or more.

On short tours, that period will be reduced to one week, and if the players go overboard, they’ll have to pay for it. Kohli isn’t exactly pleased by such restrictions from the BCCI.

“It is very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to come back to your family every time you have something intense happening on the outside. I don’t think people have an understanding of what value it brings,” Kohli had said a couple of days ago.

“That’s the cricket board’s call,” Dev told the press on BCCI’s new policy.

But he did back the former India captain. He understands that long tours aren’t easy. And that in current times you need support. With players getting constantly criticised for failures, you need someone close by your side to navigate things.

“My opinion is that you need your family, and you need a team around you as well,” the legendary all-rounder added.

Dev recounted how during his time, from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, players would tell the BCCI that they would prefer if their family joined them on the backend of the tour. The BCCI has brought back that policy, and Dev isn’t exactly against it.

“In our time, we used to think, in the first half (of the tour), let me play cricket, and then in the second half, the family should come and enjoy too. It should be a blend,” he concluded.
