Australia cricket team’s Matthew Short is doubtful for the team’s semi-final clash at the Champions Trophy. The opener suffered a thigh injury during the game against Afghanistan on Friday. Short doubtful for Champions Trophy semis

Australia captain Steve Smith said that Short will be struggling to recover in time for the semi-final clash. With the opener doubtful for the knockout game, Jake Fraaser-McGurk is likely to replace him in the top-order. The explosive batter has so far warmed the bench in the Champions Trophy.

“I think he’ll (Short) be struggling. I think we saw tonight he wasn’t moving very well. I think it’s probably going to be too quick between games for him to recover,” Smith said.

Short only managed to score 20 runs off 15 deliveries before he was dismissed. The game was eventually washed out, with the poor drainage facilities at the renovated Gaddafi stadium in Lahore on full display.
