India es venganza, derrota contra Pakistán, en las semifinales de la Copa de Campeones

La última vez que India y Pakistán visitaron la Copa de Campeones de la ICC, los hombres verdes son azules.

An absolute masterclass. The India cricket team has strolled to a victory against the Pakistan cricket team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was all too easy for Rohit Sharma’s men in what was expected to be the biggest match of the ICC Champions Trophy. They managed to avenge that 2017 Final defeat to Pakistan at The Oval, where they lost by 180 runs and start their ICC trophy curse.

Team India hasn’t just battered and bruised Pakistan but also virtually confirmed their spot in the semifinal. Although mathematically, both New Zealand and Bangladesh have a chance to qualify, realistically the Men in Blue have booked the berth. Given how the Kiwis are doing, they will most likely beat the Tigers, and India will go through along with New Zealand.

Hardik Pandya & Kuldeep Yadav make Pakistan dance to their tunes

Coming to the match was a holistic effort from Team India. Bowling first, Harshit Rana was on the money; he got only one wicket but was the best Indian pacer of the day. Mohammed Shami struggled throughout the game with his line and length. He started with an 11-ball over, then left the field to sort out a niggle and went wicketless after taking a 5-wicket haul against Bangladesh.

Babar Azam was looking a million bucks, and Hardik Pandya got him in the powerplay. The all-rounder then got Pakistan’s highest scorer, Saud Shakeel. He was India’s most economical bowler. The spinners did well in Dubai. Kuldeep Yadav was the toughest to play, bagging three wickets, but Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket each.

Gill, Kohli & Shreyas Iyer guide India to an easy victory

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave Team India a rollicking start once again. The Indian captain departed early, but Gill and Virat Kohli marched on. The run rate was always in check. Not once was Team India under pressure. Gill was undone by a beauty from Abrar Ahmad, who gave the batter a send-off as well.

Kohli continued as Shreyas Iyer joined him. The latter took his time, played with control aggression, and got a fifty. As Team India got closer, he tried to go off and departed in the process. As all of this happened, Kohli fought against time to get his hundred. It seemed unlikely, but after hitting a four with Team India needing just two runs to win, he got his record-extending 51st ODI hundred.
