The best time to bat on it would be the powerplay. We saw Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill utilise it. However, after the first ten overs, Indian batters struggled. Gill did score a hundred, but it was his slowest yet. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer both struggled. The surface will be dry, slow, and aid spinners & fast bowlers who bowl cutters.

Another thing that would go against them is the time at which they come out to bat in the middle. Often when they enter the middle, the ball is old. It doesn’t get the same zip through the surface. Also, you can’t take long to settle, or you’ll lag in the game. Kohli didn’t get much flak for his 22 (38) against Bangladesh because the target was just 229, but imagine he does that while batting first against Pakistan.
Shreyas is an aggressive batter by default. He always goes for his shots. On other surfaces, pacers may not be able to restrict him, but in Dubai, they can use cutters to keep him in check. Milking spinners might be easier than hitting them out. Attacking the spinners is Shreyas’ strength, and he could find it tough to score on such a wicket.
