India le costará a Bangladesh que Pakistán para permitir que Bangladesh permita a Bangladesh permitir que Bangladesh

India dijo adiós, reduciendo Bangladesh a 35/5. Pero contra Pakistán o Nueva Zelanda puede no funcionar

India cricket team could have very well bundled out Bangladesh for a much lesser 1st innings total in their Champions Trophy opener. Rohit Sharma and co. managed to reduce the Tigers to 35/5 within the first ten overs. However, BAN staged a comeback and fought their way to 228 runs at the end of their innings. It was in the middle-overs that the opposition managed to fightback and by the time India struck again it was pretty much towards the end. While India got away with Bangladesh, it might not be the case when they take on Pakistan and New Zealand in their next matches.

India’s wicketless middle-over run can haunt them vs PAK & NZ

Shami, Rana and Axar provided the dream start for India, ratting the Bangladesh batting line-up. Such was the nature of the attack that the opposition were reduced to 35/5 in just 8.3 overs. But that’s where the troubles began for the Men in Blue. The next wicket that the Indian team managed to get was only in the 43rd over. From 35/5 to 189/6, Bangladesh had managed to revive their innings, which had looked hopeless within the first ten overs. Eventually, the Tigers managed to reach 228 before being bowled out in the 50th over.

While Bangladesh isn’t a side that can be underestimated, Pakistan and New Zealand are bigger threats. If the same scenario is likely to be repeated in India’s upcmong fixtures, then Rohit Sharma and co. could be meted out a stricter punishment. For starters, both PAK and NZ have a stronger and much more reliable middle and lower order that can pile misery on any opposition. The likes of Glenn Phillips, Tom Latham, Mitchell Santner, Khushdil Shah, Tayyab Tahir have the ability to torment the opposition with their ability to amass runs, especially in the middle-overs. It is here that India will have to crack the code and make sure they get wickets in the middle-overs as well.

India’s strategy to deploy the choke via spinners in the middle-overs hardly worked against Bangladesh. Axar was the only spinner who managed to taste success, that too within the first 10 overs. The rest of them, Jadeja and Kuldeep, went wicketless. The pacers were of no help either in the middle-overs, as Bangladesh continued to pile up runs leading to the 43rd over.

This error cannot be afforded to be repeated once again when India take on Pakistan and New Zealand. Both sides are very much capable of amassing huge totals, thanks to their middle-order strength and batting depth. This is a threat that India will have to be wary of and cannot take lightly.
