After months of anticipation, RCB finally announced the name of the leader who will captain the team in IPL 2025. Rajat Patidar is set to captain the Bengaluru franchise in the upcoming IPL. It’s fair to say that a team which has seen legendary names leading the camp in the past now has Patidar, who is a relatively low-key name but is slowly and steadily making his way. He will now aim to do well as the captain of RCB.

The big question is how the Bengaluru franchise, which desperately needs a trophy, will fare this season. Despite playing since its inception, RCB hasn’t had much to show. Yes, they’ve had big names in the past and still have stars like Virat Kohli, but what they don’t have is an IPL trophy. They will be targeting that this season with their new captain.

Not new to the captaincy!

Surely new to IPL captaincy but not at all new to captaincy in general, Rajat Patidar impressed as skipper just a few months back, leading Madhya Pradesh to the final of the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Interestingly, the captaincy burden did not affect the right-handed batter either, as he made 542 runs as captain in the season, averaging 41.69 while striking at 164.7.
