The International Cricket Council (ICC) has slapped Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Kamran Ghulam with fines for breaching the Code of Conduct during the PAK vs. SA Tri series match. These penalties were imposed just hours after Pakistan successfully chased down a massive target of 353 runs in 49 overs, marking their highest ever successful run chase in ODIs. Shaheen Afridi was fined 25 percent of his match fee for a physical altercation with South African batter Matthew Breetzke in the 28th over of South Africa’s innings.

ICC fines Shaheen Afridi
During the incident, Shaheen blocked Breetzke’s path as he was running for a single, causing the batter to almost trip and leading to a heated argument. Shaheen was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits inappropriate physical contact with players, officials, or others during a match.
In the following over, Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam aggressively celebrated after dismissing South Africa captain Temba Bavuma. Bavuma, who was run out, had barely started walking back when Shakeel and Ghulam ran up to him and celebrated provocatively in his face.
Both players were fined 10 percent of their match fees for violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code, which bans actions or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a dismissed batter. All three players received one demerit point on their disciplinary record but accepted the ICC’s decision without challenging the penalties. The ICC’s strict action serves as a reminder for players to maintain discipline and sportsmanship on the field.
