India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra is gearing up for a busy 2025 athletics year, with his season starting at the Doha Diamond League on May 16. As confirmed by Indian athletics’ chief coach Radhakrishnan Nair, this will be Neeraj’s first competitive appearance of the season. He’s training with Czech javelin legend Jan Zelezny in South Africa, preparing for his opener.

Road to the World Championships

Following Doha, Neeraj plans to participate in several Diamond League events across Europe, including Rome, Stockholm, and Paris. These competitions will serve as crucial preparations for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September, where Neeraj aims to defend his title.

Training in Potchefstroom, South Africa, a regular base for his successful Olympic preparations, Neeraj focuses on refining his technique. With Jan Zelezny’s guidance, he’s working hard on improving his run-up and throwing sequence. Neeraj’s goal this season includes breaking the 90-meter mark, with his personal best standing at 89.94 meters.
