Lesión de Boudra: BCCI Jasprite espera esperando tazones con Boure

The anticipation regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the ICC Champions Trophy grows. With just a few days remaining, the BCCI now wants to play the waiting game with the ace pacer. Reports claim that Jasprit Bumrah will begin bowling and other gym activities within a day or two.

Earlier this month, Bumrah traveled to Bengaluru to join the NCA. There he underwent different scans to check on his back stress injury. The deadline for final squad submission is 11th February, and the BCCI is planning to stretch it to the furthest, to include Bumrah in the tournament.

“Even if there is a 1% chance, the BCCI is likely to wait. They did the same with Hardik Pandya as they waited for close to two weeks before getting Prasidh Krishna as a replacement. Even when Shubman Gill was down with dengue, they didn’t have any thoughts of looking for a replacement. Yes those two incidents happened during the campaign but approach with Bumrah could well be no different. This is just the deadline to submit the squad and they could approach the Event Technical Committee at a later stage to seek a replacement if he fails to regain fitness,” says a source close to developments told The Times of India.

It is fair on BCCI’s part who wants to use their best pacer in the mega tournament. Once the support period starts, India can still make changes to their squad but for that, they need to seek permission from the Event Technical Committee.

In the meantime, Bumrah suffered this back stress injury while playing the IND vs AUS 5th Test in Sydney. Since then he has been in rest and recovery mode. He was initially named in the squad for the IND vs ENG 3rd ODI, but was removed with Varun Chakravarthy getting his chance in the team.
