En agosto de 2024, el indio Rachit fue el más alto para VS SL
The scrutiny surrounding Rohit Sharma has been paramount. The Indian Cricket Team captain has been in poor form, and doubts about his future continue. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has claimed that the Hitman won’t brandish an aggressive brand of cricket. He further claimed that Rohit won’t take unnecessary risks in pinch-hitting.
Back in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit managed to score just 31 runs from 5 innings and since September 2024, he has scored 164 runs with a poor average of 10.93. Rohit’s return to the Ranji Trophy too, hasn’t been great where he scored 3 and 28, respectively.
He will play differently – Sanjay Majrekar
As the attention turns towards the ICC Champions Trophy, Rohit will be determined to prove his worth. This means he won’t take the risk of playing big shots in order to showcase his mettle.
“What is going to happen is that he will play differently in 50-overs cricket as there’s massive scrutiny on his poor form. He might not go and do the kind of pinch hitting. Unless of course, he surprises us and plays in exactly the same fashion but in our country, there’s so much discussion about someone’s poor form so somewhere it gets to you. It was reflected in his interview during the Border Gavaskar Trophy as well that he got affected by it emotionally,” said Manjrekar on Star Sports Deep Point show.
Rohit Sharma, in the 2023 World Cup, was the second-highest run-getter of the tournament. He went on to amass 597 runs from 11 matches. But the most important thing was his aggressive approach. Rohit took on the opposition bowlers early, scoring runs in a flurry to pile on more trouble for the opposition. It remains to be seen if he uses the same approach in the IND vs ENG ODIs as well.
