El Rachit Sharma estaba muy aterrorizado en la Copa Havachar en la frontera recientemente completa.
India’s captain Rohit Sharma‘s future in ODIs is in doubt after the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy. Whatever the result of the tournament, the BCCI will discuss his future as the board wants to prepare the next captain accordingly. However, the situation with Virat Kohli is different as the management wants to give him a bit of time.
Rohit Sharma’s poor form has been a huge concern both for himself and the team. Though Rohit has made it clear that he wants to play, age is not on his side. And his poor form has added fresh concerns to his place in the team. According to reports, if Rohit’s performance doesn’t improve extraordinarily, then India will have a new captain for ODIs and Tests.
Time running out for Rohit Sharma
“The selectors and people in the board had this discussion with Rohit around the time of the last selection meeting. He has been told that he needs to decide how he wants to plan his future after the Champions Trophy. The team management has certain plans going into the next World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and the ODI World Cup. They want to ensure everyone is on the same page for a smoother transition,” The Times of India quoted a BCCI source as saying.
Under Rohit’s captaincy, India lost the New Zealand Test series and the Border Gavaskar Trophy. This meant that India missed out on the chance to make it to the WTC Finals. But after the Champions Trophy, the BCCI will be keen on picking a captain who can lead the side to the WTC Finals for the next cycle.
There are doubts if Rohit can make it to the 2027 World Cup. Because then he will be 40 years old. But that is not the case for Virat Kohli. The star batter is now 36 and still has time on his side though his form has dwindled over the past months. In the meantime, the duo have the golden opportunity to showcase their worth before the Champions Trophy in the IND vs ENG ODIs
