After taking the roof down at the Wankhede Stadium, Abhishek Sharma has become India’s highest-rated ICC T20I batter. The 24-year-old had a teeraway five-match T20I series against England and has jumped from the 40th spot to the second in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings. Abhishek is only behind Travis Head on the list. Head has 855 points as compared to Abhishek’s 829.

Record-breaker Abhishek gets his due!

Abhishek’s explosive innings of 135, which came off just 54 deliveries, is the highest individual score by an Indian men’s player in T20Is. He beat Shubman Gill’s record for that. Not only this, he broke numerous other records en route to his century. His series tally of 279 runs at an average of 55.80 and a strike rate of 219.68 earned him the leading run-getter’s mantle.

But Abhishek isn’t the only Indian player making waves. To accommodate Abhishek, Tilak Varma has moved to the third spot, while Suryakumar Yadav has dropped to fifth. Ever since becoming India’s permanent T20I skipper, Suryakumar has failed to walk the talk. He had a horrible IND vs ENG T20I series, making just 28 runs at an average of less than six. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube have also made great gains in the batting rankings. Pandya has moved from 55th to 51st, while Dube has jumped as many as 38 places to be at 58.

In the bowling department, Varun Chakravarthy’s 14-wicket haul against England has propelled him to equal second spot. He shares the spot with Adil Rashid, as both the spinners have 705 points. Ravi Bishnoi’s five wickets in the series have earned him a six-place jump to sixth spot. Meanwhile, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein has reclaimed his spot as the number one bowler.
