Dube, who was struck on the helmet by a delivery from Jamie Overton in the final over of India’s innings, was deemed unfit to continue. Rana has now become the first cricketer in history to make his T20 International debut as a substitute.

What is ICC’s concussion sub rule?
Under ICC regulations, concussion substitutes must be a like-for-like replacement. A batsman can only be substituted by another batsman, and an all-rounder may not be permitted to bowl if substituted. The match referee has the authority to make the final decision on the replacement, with the team’s physio or doctor responsible for performing the concussion assessment. Once a player is ruled out, they are not allowed to return, even if they recover during the course of the match.
