Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s woes seem to have begun even before the start of IPL 2025, in the form of England’s batters. Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone, both who were picked up by the trophy-less franchise in the mega auction, have misfired so far in IND vs ENG T20I series. The England duo, who are known for going big in the IPL, will play a crucial role for RCB in the upcoming edition of the tournament. But their poor form, especially in India, is a point of concern for the IPL franchise.

Livingstone, Salt give RCB headache before IPL 2025

Livingstone moved from Punjab Kings (PBKS) to RCB after being picked up by the latter for Rs 8.75 cr. Similarly, keeper-batter Phil Salt was released by defending champions KKR and went to RCB for Rs 11.50 cr. Both these stars, who are known for their destructive batting abilities, have had a decent run in the IPL so far. However, in IND vs ENG T20Is, they have failed to fire so far, flopping with the bat on both occasions in Kolkata and Chennai.

Salt managed scores of 0 & 4 in the first two IND vs ENG T20Is while Livingstone only managed knocks of 0 & 13. While there are three more T20Is left in the series for the England duo to prove their mettle, RCB would certainly be worried, given that both Salt and Livingstone failed to fire in prime IPL venues – Eden Gardens and Chepauk.

Salt is expected to open the innings for RCB along with Virat Kohli. Livingstone, on the other hand, will play an instrumental role in the middle-order. Should these two fail in the IPL as well, then RCB will be in big trouble. On the other hand, their only positive is Jacob Bethell, who has been in phenomenal form off late.
