Kohli cited a neck sprain to explain his unavailability for Delhi’s first game in the second leg of Ranji Trophy against Saurashtra. The Ayush Badoni-led side, which saw Rishabh Pant return to action in the tourney after 7 years, lost to SAU.

One of the primary reasons for the King to return to domestic red-ball cricket is to improve his problems with outside off-stump which cost him his wicket on all eight occasions in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Besides, his form over the last four years in Tests has been miserable, seeing his average dip below 50 for the first time in his career.
