After a disappointing loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India’s star Rishabh Pant came back to the Ranji setup after nearly 8 years. The batter failed miserably in the domestic cricket. In the first inning, he managed only 1 run before being caught behind. His difficulties continued in the second inning, where he scored 17 runs while attempting to stabilise a struggling Delhi innings but ultimately fell to Jadeja. Pant’s failure to convert his opportunities into important scores was a major setback for Delhi, impacting their overall performance in the match.

Ravindra Jadeja was a standout performer throughout the match. In Delhi’s first innings, he delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking 5 wickets for 66 runs. Saurashtra’s batting was led by Harvik Desai, who scored a determined 93 runs in the first inning. Desai’s innings showcased patience and skill, laying a strong foundation for Saurashtra. Arpit Vasavada also made a vital contribution with a composed 62, helping Saurashtra establish a solid lead. In the second innings, Saurashtra needed just 15 runs to secure victory, which Desai and Vasavada achieved with ease, concluding the match early.

Delhi’s batting collapse

Delhi’s batting woes were evident, as they could only post 188 and 94 runs in their two innings, respectively. Apart from Ayush Badoni’s 60 in the first innings, there were no significant contributions from their batsmen. Jadeja’s guile and precision, along with Dharmendrasinh Jadeja’s support, proved too challenging for the Delhi side to counter.
