El capitán del cinco veces aniversario de ILL regresará para la temporada 2025 a pesar de sus problemas de condición física.

MS Dhoni, the former captain of both the Indian cricket team and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), recently visited the Maa Dewri Temple in Diuri village near Ranchi, his hometown. In a video that has gone viral, fans can be seen gathered at the temple, eager to catch a glimpse of the cricket legend, who sought blessings from the deity ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 season.

MS Dhoni, now 43, frequently visits the temple to seek blessings before the start of a cricketing season. On Friday, January 24, images and videos of Dhoni at the Maa Dewri Temple surfaced on social media, showing him entering the sacred site. The images and videos quickly went viral, with fans praising Dhoni’s devotion and expressing admiration for his faith and humility.

MS Dhoni seeks blessings ahead of IPL 2025

Dhoni, a five-time IPL-winning captain, is set to return for the IPL 2025 season despite fitness concerns. The 43-year-old confirmed his participation, and CSK honored his decision by retaining him. Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore, with the IPL governing body easing rules for retired players.

Under the new retention rules, franchises can retain Indian players as uncapped if they have not played international cricket or held a BCCI central contract in the past five years. Although Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024, he remained an influential figure, often helping Gaikwad set the field and guide the team from behind the stumps.

IPL 2024 was widely expected to be Dhoni’s farewell season, but the legendary cricketer had different plans, choosing not to retire after CSK’s league-stage exit. Batting primarily at No. 8, Dhoni still thrilled fans with his explosive cameos, scoring 161 runs off just 73 deliveries and ending the season with an incredible strike rate of 220.54.
