The Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir has been full of exciting twists and turns and the home side is struggling at MCA cricket ground. The match saw a dramatic moment when Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane was initially dismissed for 16 runs off 29 balls. However, he was recalled from the dressing room after the delivery that got him out was deemed a no-ball. This caused a bit of confusion on the field, with Shardul Thakur almost reaching halfway to the pitch before having to return as Rahane came back to bat. It took nearly three minutes to check the no-ball decision. However, later Rahane departed for 16 runs off 36 balls.
Mumbai’s fight to recover
After the lunch break, Mumbai was aiming to recover from early setbacks. They faced a challenging situation with the quick dismissals of key players Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahane and Shreyas Iyer. The team’s score stood at 91/6, with Shardul at the crease.
Fall of wickets
The earlier part of the innings saw Mumbai struggle as Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube got out in quick succession, thanks to a double wicket maiden by Auqib Nabi. Hardik Tamore and Yashasvi Jaiswal also fell soon after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, adding pressure on Mumbai to stabilize their innings.
Rohit Sharma’s fiery start
Rohit Sharma had given Mumbai a promising start by quickly reaching 28 runs, smashing some massive sixes and boundaries. He partnered well with Jaiswal, contributing to a 50-run opening stand. However, he left after being caught at mid-wicket, miscued against Yudhvir Singh.
Jammu & Kashmir’s lead
Earlier, Jammu & Kashmir were bowled out for 206 runs, giving them an 86-run lead. Mohit Avasthi played a crucial role, taking a five-wicket haul to restrict J&K’s score. With efforts from Avasthi and Thakur, Mumbai ended J&K’s innings, setting the stage for a challenging target in the following innings.
This gripping clash at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Mumbai continues as both teams battle for a crucial victory in the Ranji Trophy.
