Después de Umran Malik, Umar Nazir se convirtió en el nuevo jugador de bolos de Jammu y Cachemira y acaparó los titulares después de despedir a Rohit Sharma en el Trofeo Ranji.
Rohit Sharma’s return to the Ranji Trophy 2025 ended quickly, as the Indian captain was dismissed for just 3 by a 6’4″ tall pacer from Jammu & Kashmir. The pacer demolished the experienced and talented Mumbai batting lineup with an excellent 41/5 bowling figure on Day 1 of the tournament, held on January 23.
Who is Umar Nazir?
Umar Nazir Mir belongs to Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir. The pacer has taken wickets of big names like Rohit Sharma, Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane in the Ranji Trophy 2025.
The bowler was also a net bowler for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He might now gain recognition and could be seen in the league in future seasons.
He isn’t just a one-match wonder. After playing in 57 first-class matches, he has taken 138 wickets at an average of 29.12. He registered his career-best figures of 6/53 in the Ranji Trophy clash against Services. He has also performed brilliantly in List A and T20 cricket under extreme pressure.
Umar Nazir’s pace crashed Mumbai’s batting-line up
Playing against Mumbai, he first dismissed India skipper Rohit Sharma, who had scored just three runs. Rohit was seen struggling at the crease and had a hard time facing Umar.
It was Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane who came in to bat next and he too fell against Umar. Umar then had taken four wickets and thus ran riot at their batting lineup.
