The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has added Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill to the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) roster. The moves comes as a part of the agency efforts to include more elite and centrally contracted cricketers to expand its purview in the anti-doping programme. A total of 14 cricketers, including men and women, are on the freshly prepared roster.

As per Times of India, the other cricketers on the list include Hardik Panda, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh. Shafali Varma, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur are the three India women’s cricket team players on the RTP roster for 2025. The report states that the agency’s Dope Control Officers (DCO) will be collecting the urine samples of cricketers in the RTP during the IND vs ENG white-ball series. Further, the BCCI has been informed of this by NADA.

What is the purpose of RTP and when did it start for cricketers?

The first RTP roster for cricketers was prepared by NADA in 2019. The names in the list included Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma. They had reportedly shared their “whereabout” details to the DCOs in order for collection of their urine samples. In 2020, NADA let go of Puajara and Jadeja with a warning for failing to submit their “whereabout” details. The BCCI had then reportedly explained that it was due to a technical glitch that the players were unable to submit their details.

Athletes who are part of the RTP, are required to provide whereabouts information which will then be utilised by Nada to locate them for an effective out-of-competition sample collection process,” the report stated.

“Whereabout” details include  residence address, email address and phone number; an address for overnight accommodations; regular activities, such as training, work, and the locations and times of these activities; competition schedules and locations and a 60-minute time slot for each day where they will be available and accessible for testing and liable for a potential ‘missed test’.
