Rohit Sharma y Hardik Pandya están ocupados preparándose para el Trofeo de Campeones ICC mientras apuntan a llevar a India a la victoria en Dubai.
After India lost the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, all eyes now turn to the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, starting February 19. India is set to begin their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. Ahead of the tournament, Indian captain Rohit Sharma practiced intensively in Mumbai, joined by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. During practice at Reliance Corporate Park, he focused on perfecting late cuts and pull shots. Meanwhile, Hardik sharpened his bowling skills by bowling to Rohit. Mumbai Indians uploaded a video of them playing against each other.
Rohit Sharma’s form woes
The 37-year-old Rohit has been in poor form. His struggles were evident during the Australia series, and he even sat out the Sydney Test, leaving Jasprit Bumrah to captain the team. Fans and selectors hope Rohit can regain his form before the Champions Trophy. Despite Rohit’s recent struggles, scoring only 31 runs in five innings against Australia, he is expected to lead India in Dubai.
Selection speculations
Rohit and Hardik are anticipated to be key players in India’s Champions Trophy squad. Their inclusion is almost certain, but the final squad composition by Ajit Agarkar and the committee is keenly awaited. Last year, Hardik took over as captain for Mumbai Indians, which led to some controversies, including being booed at Wankhede Stadium.
The upcoming tournament poses a great opportunity for Rohit to find his rhythm and for India to regroup after the recent Test setback against Australia. With training sessions intensifying, the Indian team aims to start the Champions Trophy on a strong note.
Rohit Sharma’s participation in Ranji Trophy uncertain
Rohit Sharma was recently seen practising with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team ahead of their match against Jammu and Kashmir in Mumbai on January 23. However, it’s unclear if Rohit will participate in the game. The BCCI recently issued a 10-point directive emphasizing that players must represent their state teams in domestic cricket to be considered for selection and to secure central contracts. Disciplinary action may be taken against those who disregard these guidelines.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya was part of Baroda’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored 11 runs and took three wickets in three matches.
