Finally, the Women’s Premier League third season schedule is out. This time, the tournament will take place in four cities with 22 matches. The tournament will start on 14th February, and the final will be played in Mumbai on Saturday, 15th March. BCCI released the schedule on Thursday.
Matches to be played across four venue
The matches will be played across four venues this year; earlier, the tournament was played in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, but this year, there are two new additions in the cities. The tournament this year will happen in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Vadodara.
First leg in Vadodara
The tournament will kick off on 14th February at the new BCA Stadium in Baroda. The first match will see Gujarat Giants taking on the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in an exciting opening game. Baroda will host a total of six matches before the tournament moves to Bengaluru, where RCB will face the strong Mumbai Indians, the winners of the first WPL edition, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 21st February.
Action in Bengaluru and Lucknow afterwards
In Bengaluru, RCB will have three more home games: against UP Warriorz on 24th February, against the Gujarat Giants on 27th February, and against Delhi Capitals on 1st March. Lucknow is joining as a WPL venue this season, with UP Warriorz playing three matches at their home ground starting from 3rd March.
Finals in Mumbai
The final part of the tournament will take place in Mumbai, where the Cricket Club of India will host the last two league matches and two important Playoff games. The Mumbai Indians will wrap up the league stage with consecutive home games against the Gujarat Giants and RCB on 10th and 11th March. The top team in the standings will directly enter the final, while the second and third-place teams will compete in an Eliminator on 13th March for a spot in the final, which will be held on 15th March. Like last season, all matches in this third edition will be single matches per day.
