Kuldeep Yadav remains on the comeback trail. The left-arm wrist spinner has been out of action since October last year. Sustaining a groin injury, Kuldeep had travelled to Germany to undergo surgery. He’s since returned and has been toiling hard at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

However, there is still no confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) whether he’s ready to take the field or not. Since he wasn’t included in the India cricket team’s squad for the England T20I series, which starts on February 22, one can assume he’s still not 100%.

Having missed most of the India vs. New Zealand Test series and then the entire Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kuldeep Yadav is raring to return. His emphasis is on making the side for the upcoming ODI series against England and then the ICC Champions Trophy.

The latest update suggests that he’s back bowling at full tilt. But the decision over his participation remains with the NCA medical team, who’ll determine whether he’s match fit or not. Mohammed Shami had been at the NCA as well and joined Team India only when he was cleared.

If reports are to be believed, January 19 is earmarked as the date when the BCCI names the squad for the India vs. England ODI series and the ICC Champions Trophy. That means Kuldeep basically has three days to show he’s fit to enter the international arena.

Of course, even if he’s not named against England, he will have a chance. For the informed, the team can change their squads until February 12, a week before the ICC Champions Trophy starts. Kuldeep Yadav may still have a chance to travel to Dubai, but the BCCI and he would like to play a little bit more before that.
